Of the Meninges
Meningitis – Inflammation of the meninges surrounding the brain.
Meningioma – The formation of tumours within the meninges, typically of the Dura mater.
Hydrocephalus — occurs when too much cerebrospinal fluid is produced and the ventricles swell, putting pressure on the tissue of the brain. Tumors are one potential cause of an over-production of cerebrospinal fluid.
Hydroencephali — "water brain", a rare birth defect in which the cerebrum is absent and the space where it should be is entirely filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
Histology — the study of tissues and how they are arranged. Commonly performed by examining cells/tissues by sectioning and staining, and examination under a microscope.
Histopathology — the microscopic study of diseased tissue, requires histopathological examination of samples.
